Harry M. Shoebotham – born November 1, 1925, went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at age 97 and 9 months. Member of both Bible Baptist Church and Gilead Baptist Church. Harry was a devout Christian and served as a deacon at Bible Baptist Church and loved to sing with his late wife, Wava Jean. He also sang at Gilead Baptist Church. A loving, caring father and grandfather with deep roots in his faith in the Lord.
Preceded in death by father, John Melville Shoebotham; mother, Minta Nicely Shoebotham; sister, Betty June Shoebotham Brown; and brother-in-law, Harold D. Brown; and wife, Wava Jean Brown Shoebotham.
Survived by son, Daniel M. Shoebotham and wife Mary of Blaine Tennessee; daughter, Janet D. Shoebotham Mathews and husband Scott of Sweetwater, Tennessee; and nephews and one niece, Harry; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Bridges Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM. Preachers presiding over funeral service will be Glen Leffew of Bible Baptist Church, Harriman, and Chris Smelcher of Gilead Baptist Church, Knoxville, TN. There will be a procession following the service to Woodlawn Cemetery for a 2:00 PM interment with Military Honors. Pallbearers: Aaron M. Shoebotham, Chris C. Mathews, Jeremy D. Mathews, Austin H. Reeves, Miles M. Reeves, Jason M. Wells. Junior Pallbearers: Harrison S. Mathews, Liam C. Weaver, Jaxon O. Wells.
