With sadness the family of the late Harold James Maloney announce his passing in the early morning hours of June 13, 2024 at Hastings Centennial Manor at the age of 83 with his beloved wife and daughter by his side. Harold Maloney, son of the late Richard Maloney & Madeline Gallagher, beloved husband of Freda (Yuill) Maloney and loving and doting father of Kaitlyn of Peterborough. Harold is predeceased by all of his siblings, namely: Bernard, Mickey, Leo, Paul, Marjorie, Joe, Pat, Carl and Danny and by his brother in law, Brett Reeves.
Harold will be lovingly remembered by his sister in law Beverley, by Freda’s siblings Gail, Lynn and Laurie and by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Harold was born in Marmora Township and spent his entire career in the grocery business as a butcher. His career began in Orono and Campbellford before coming to Bancroft. There Harold began his 35 year tenure at the Bancroft I.G.A. in 1969 and following the closing of the store he worked for a number of years at Foodland in Apsley before retiring. When he wasn’t working, Harold enjoyed playing baseball with the I.G.A. team, playing hockey with the I.G.A. Oldtimers team which garnered many happy memories to say the least and hunting in the fall with the Hayton gang. His forever jovial nature and high pitched giggle will live on in the memories of all who knew Harold. May he now rest in peace.
Harold’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring PSW’s of Hastings Centennial Manor for their loving and attentive care. In keeping with Harold’s requests, funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Neuman Family Funeral Home. Cremation will take place at Elmwood Crematorium in Corbyville and his cremains will be privately interred in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to Greenwood Cemetery, c/o Cheryl Foster, 2114 11th Concession D, RR#2 Clayton, Ontario, K0A 1P0 in Harold’s memory.
