Obituary
The family of Harold G. Hoskins announce his passing on August 22, 2023. Harold is remembered by his loving wife, Joyce, his three children, Harold (Cathy), Holly (William), Heather Joy (Chris), and his seven grandchildren, Hannah, Genieva, Jeffrey, Bradley, Hemsley, Shea, and Cameron. He also leaves behind his youngest brother, Trevor. Harold was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
Born to Pastors George and Majorie Hoskins on March 13, 1946, Harold was proud of his Newfoundland roots and culture. Whether he was berrypicking on the bogs, boating around the bays, tending to his vegetable garden in the back yard, or seeking out a new community to visit, he loved to squeeze the best from each day. He seized every opportunity to travel with his wife and always took time to add spice and laughter to the lives of his children, family, and friends. Although he held many titles and championed many accomplishments throughout his 77 years, his most cherished role came with being a husband, dad and pops. His final day was spent doing exactly that: celebrating life and living it to the fullest, surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
As a community member and friend to many, he was known for his patience as he lived an exemplary life of selflessness, often pushing himself beyond his abilities and leaning on his faith. Despite his heart condition and compromised physical health, Harold remained a giver. With a signature quiet and intentional demeanour, he touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact wherever he went. He will be profoundly missed by many.
We ask you to honour him in the days to come by reminding yourself to live a selfless life, as he did.
