Obituary
Guilherme Alcide Silva passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, in the comfort of his home by the side of his loving wife, Maria Angelina. He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Suset and Elsie; grandchildren Kayla, Angela Rose, and Isabella; and great-granddaughter, Aeris. He will also be dearly missed by his beloved dog, Dina.
Guilherme was born in Sao Mateus, Azores, on May 7, 1945, son of the late Elvira and Luis Silva, and is survived by brothers John and Luis Silva. Guilherme came to Canada in 1969, where he met the love of his life, Maria Angelina. They established a home and family in Toronto, where he worked as a roofer for many years.
Guilherme was a proud Luso-Canadian and fanatic soccer fan of the Sporting Clube de Portugal. He enjoyed his time tending to his vegetable and flower gardens, watching soccer matches, taking care of his home, and enjoying delicious meals with his family. In 2001, he had a liver transplant, and thanks to the exceptional care he received at the University Health Network, Toronto General Hospital – Transplant Centre, he could enjoy another two decades of life with his family. We are forever grateful for the care provided by all the doctors and nurses at UHN.
Visitation will occur on Monday, August 28th from 10:30am to 12:30pm at Cardinal Funeral Home, 366 Bathurst Street, Toronto, Ontario. The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 28th, at St. Agnes Parish at 1:00pm.
Internment to follow at Prospect Cemetery at 1450 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in honour of Guilherme’s life to UHN Foundation at uhnfoundation.ca/programs/transplant/
