It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Grant. Predeceased by his son Dan Scobie, sister Lynn King, and parents Kenneth and Eunice Scobie (née Cassidy). Leaving behind his beloved wife of 30 years, Libby (Elizabeth) Scobie (née Hickey), daughter Kim Scobie, daughter-in-law Shari Scobie, sons Nick (Amy) Axisa, and Pat (Pam) Axisa. His brothers Wayne (Dianne) Scobie, and Neil (Sue) Scobie. His 4 sisters- in-law Jaye (Rick) Bryan, Donna Hickey, Louise Hickey, and Carol (Martin) Neumann. Grant was Papa (aka Sarge) to Mitch, Tyler, Tanner, Layla, Lacey, Colton, and Duke. Great-Papa to Payton. Beloved uncle (aka Judge Stickleback) to many nieces and nephews. Good Friend to many he worked with, hunted with, and socialized with; all who remained close and supportive throughout his life.
Grant was born in Hamilton, moved to Quebec at a young age, then moved back to the Hamilton area where he spent most of his life. Grant was a respected Hamilton Regional Police officer for 30 years, serving as a Sergeant before enjoying his retirement. Grant and Libby then moved to their home on Lake Manitouwabing, where Grant then became an active member of the Parry Sound Arts and Craft Market Council and Lake Manitouwabing / McKellar social events. Grant will be missed by his northern family and friends he created many memories with. Grant enjoyed his last stage of retirement travelling with his wife Libby, friends, and family across Canada and the US in their 5th wheel with his dog Sofie at his side. Grant then settled with Libby near the beaches of Long Beach enjoying the peace and quiet for the past year. Grant will be remembered and missed by many.
Special thank you to all the care provided to Grant from the Dunville Hospital, the exceptional care from the Brantford General C5 team and the Hamilton General CCU. Donations to the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated in Grant’s name.
