Obituary of Graham Stuart Noseworthy
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Graham Stuart Noseworthy at the age of 77, surrounded by family, on July 3, 2024.
He is survived by his cherished wife, Debby; his beloved children Dawn Zwicker (Ryan) and Matthew; and his source of pride and joy, his granddaughters Lily and Emma. Also left to mourn Graham are his siblings Greg (Sandi), Rick (the late Brenda), Cheryl (Max Ashford), Ken (Brenda), Rodney, Celeste (Chris Lyver), Charlyn (Jack Bishop) and Mark (Gail); in-laws Norm Lockyer, Ruby (the late Gary Jarvis), Bernice (the late Brent Morton), Marilyn (Rick), Carl, Sterling (Shirley), Bonnie (Mario Bianco) and Karen (Chris Bryan); along with his many dear nieces and nephews. Graham will also be remembered by his lifelong friends, George Denief and Danny Baldwin, and his Legion buddies. He was predeceased by his parents, Graham and Doris Noseworthy, sister Carol Lockyer, and his Father and Mother in-law, Absalom and Myrtle Starkes.
Graham began his career with the Federal Public Service in 1983 with Parks Canada. A proud Newfoundlander, he was born and educated in St. John’s, and was involved in the establishment of Gros Morne National Park. In 1994, he brought his family to Nova Scotia as he became the Director of the Atlantic Service Centre for Canadian Heritage. In 2001, he was appointed as Regional Director General with the Canada Border Services Agency in Southern Ontario, and remained in this position until his well deserved retirement in 2009.
Graham enjoyed golfing with his ‘Old Farts’, playing snooker, and sharing a toddy with his family and friends. He was a passionate card and cribbage player who will be remembered as a vocal critic to those brave enough to share the table with him! A proud Poppy, he would cheer on his granddaughters at their theatre performances and sports games, and even braved the heat of Thailand to be with them. He was also a dedicated member and past President of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines, Ontario on Monday, July 8, 2024 from 4:30 – 7:00 pm. Reception to follow from 6:00 – 9:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24, 15 George Street, St. Catharines. Funeral services will be held in St. John’s, Newfoundland on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Anglican Church chapel, 80 Craigmillar Ave.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
