Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Graham Orr of Cowan, MB on September 24, 2023, at the age of 76 years. Graham was born to Doris and James Orr in Russell, MB on January 31, 1947.
Graham leaves to cherish his memory, his children: Brent (Louise) of Russell, MB, Darren (Rayla) of Binscarth, MB, Quentin of Clearwater River, SK, and Kelly (Ryan) of Cold Lake, AB.
His Love: Vickie of Clearwater River, SK.
Grandchildren: Christopher, Sean, Noah, Jade, Sydney, Jarred, Tarah, Ronin, Ryett, Christian, Kayla, Larryanna, Laina, Lily, and Lanaya.
Siblings: Margaret (Warren), Melvin (Mary), Kim (Tim), Cathy, and Angela (Lyle).
Numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Friends.
He was predeceased by: His Parents Doris and Jim, Brother Chris, and Sister-in-law Mary.
After attending High School in Binscarth, MB, Graham worked as an electrician at K1 and K2 Potash Mines in Esterhazy, SK. In 1965 he married Sharon Wondrasek, and they lived in Binscarth, MB. He attended Red River Community College and received his Electrical Journeyman’s License. Graham and Sharon divorced in 1983.
Graham obtained work in Northern Saskatchewan at a Uranium Mine at Cluff Lake and Collins Bay for Thyssen Mining. In 1985, Graham met Vickie Boucher at Cluff Lake, and she moved to Binscarth, MB with him and his two sons Brent and Darren. Vickie’s Son Quentin moved down shortly after to join the family. In 1987, Graham and Vickie had a daughter, Kelly.
Graham finished work at the mines in Northern Saskatchewan and found employment with Muscosho Explorations in Northern Ontario as an electrical contractor at a gold mine. Once the mine closed, Graham moved back to Manitoba to work as an electrical contractor all over the province. In 1993, he accepted a position with the Manitoba Housing Authority in Swan River, MB. Graham and the family then moved to the Swan River Valley, where they lived in Minitonas, MB. Graham lived in Minitonas for 19 years until his retirement. In 2012, he purchased a house and acreage in Cowan, MB, where he enjoyed the rest of his retirement days.
Graham loved being outside. He enjoyed working in his yard, building, fixing things, tinkering around in his shop, fishing, and going for cruises in his 1966 Dodge Monaco. He loved joining his friends on cruises to various car shows in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Graham’s love for cars was evident his entire life, with memories he often shared of his old cars. He loved Mopar and his history of vehicles is evidence of this. In the 80’s Graham drag-raced snowmobiles and was known for his many victories with his John Deere sportfire. When he wasn’t working in the yard, he loved watching hockey and baseball more specifically his Blue Jays. His channel was always tuned to sports right up until his last days. Graham was a jokester, an avid storyteller, and loved sitting down for a good visit. Most of all he loved his family. Many of his stories revolved around his children and grandchildren whom he was so very proud of.
Celebration of Life will be held at the Binscarth Community Hall on October 6, 2023, at 2 pm with refreshments and internment to follow.
