Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the families of Grace Mae Payne (nee Payne) announce her passing peacefully surrounded by her family at Bonne Bay Health Centre in Norris Point NL on January 7th, 2023 at the age of 84 years.
Leaving to mourn the love of her life her husband Jesse, her wonderful sons Barry (Glenda) of Fort McMurray Alberta, Ronnie of Ottawa Ontario, and Eric (Dinah) of Bathurst New Brunswick, her grandchildren Michelle (Colin) Blanchard of Fort McMurray Alberta, Michael of Fort McMurray, Alberta and Jared (Jessie Barrette) of Miramichi, New Brunswick her great-grandchildren Bradley and Richard Blanchard, Grace and Jack Payne, her siblings Trevor (Juanita), Ron (Verna), Curt (Mona), Velma (Warrick) Patey, her sisters in law; Thelma Hutchings, Gwen Payne, Muriel (Jack) Webb, Jacqueline (Max) King and brothers in law Derek (Elaine) Payne and George Hewlin, also a large number of nieces, nephews and other relatives, extended family and friends. Of special note the family would like to thank Nora Shears and Evelyn and Rod House for their assistance during Grace’s illness.
The family will be receiving family and friends at Parsons Funeral Home at 63 North Main Street, in Deer Lake on Tuesday, January 10th 2023 from the hours of 11: 30 am to 1:30 pm where also the funeral service will take place thereafter at 2 pm. with Catechist; Nora Shears and Rev. Terry Rose officiating. This funeral service will be live streamed, to view the service please go to our face book page @ Parsons Funeral Home (Deer Lake), to view this service.
The internment of her ashes will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice in Grace’s memory.
Grace was predeceased by her parents; Gerald & Helen Payne, her sister; Eileen (Edgar) Payne & her sister Marina (Gordon) Payne, her mother and father in law Georgina (nee Brophy) and John (Jack) Payne. Her brothers and sisters in law Marion (Ken) Kennedy, Doris (Clayton) Roberts, Jean Hewlin, Frank Hutchings, Obadiah Payne, Joseph (Joe) Murphy, and John Slauson.
She was very much involved in her local church and a member of the St-Mary’s choir. She enjoyed knitting cooking and felting and was an avid gardener. During the winters Grace and Jesse would spend a great deal of their time together at the “camp”, where many memories were made.
The family would like to thank the wonderful and professional staff at the Bonne Bay Health Centre for the exceptional care that Grace received during her illness.
