With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Gordon Cooper on November 28, 2023 at Halifax, born November 23, 1946. Gord is survived by his wife of sixty years, Sheila (Rose), his children Elizabeth (Perry) of Purcell’s Cove and Edward (Michelle) of Paradise NL. Gordon also leaves behind to mourn his grandchildren, Cara (Aaron), Steven (Alyssa), both of Halifax, Jessica (Greg) and Stuart (Rachel), both of Paradise NL. He will be missed by brothers Nathan (Diane) of Ottawa, ON, and Calvin (Ruby) of Gaultois, NL, a sister Barbara (Roland) of Gaultois, NL, and a brother, Ben (Lori) of Cornerbook, NL. Gord was predeceased by his parents, Benjamin and Elizabeth “Dolly” Cooper. Gordon was born in Pushthrough NL, and moved to Gaultois at the age of 11. In 1968 he moved to Halifax, with his family, to build a new life. It was here he met a lot of old friends from home and went on to make many more new friends. Dad was blessed by this great circle of wonderful friends, some who will greet him at the Golden Gates with a glass of whiskey and Newfoundland music in the background. A service in memory of Gordon will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at 2 PM from J. Albert Walker Funeral Home Chapel, 149 Herring Cove Road, with a reception following the service.
