Passed away peacefully at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, in his 70th year, surrounded by loved ones. Beloved and devoted husband of Karen Gray (nee Thompson) for 52 years. Loving and cherished father to Laurie (Ron Stiff), Nicole Gray (Jeremy Genno) and Kathy Gray (Dave Bell). Proud grandfather to Scott Gray, Chase Stiff (Jaclyn), Connor Stiff (Kayla) and Grayden Genno and great-grandfather to Emerson and Desmond. Predeceased by his parents Desmond and Abby (Johnson) Gray, siblings John (Ruth) and Mark (Tammy). Survived by his sisters Debbie (Gray) and Bill Pearce and Brenda Gray (Michael). He was also the cherished and loved uncle, great-uncle and cousin to many who will miss him dearly.
Glenn was born in Timmins, Ontario, moving to the Orillia area in 1970 where he met and married his wife, Karen. He was a dedicated worker with Kubota (formerly Fahramet) Materials Canada for over 42 years. He had served with the Royal Regiment of Canada in Toronto for two years and as an Executive member of the Warminster Canadian Legion in the 80’s. He loved ATVing, fishing and hockey with his sons-in-laws, grandsons, brother-in-laws and friends. He also loved to play his drums any chance he got and was a DJ in the 1980’s and 1990’s on weekends and played at many weddings and birthday celebrations over the years. Glenn loved his dogs who have passed before him and will be missed by Bear and Piper.
Cremation has taken place with a celebration of life to be held later in the Spring/early summer. When a date has been decided it will be announced. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation through the Simcoe Funeral Home, 38 James Street, Orillia (705)327-0221.
