Obituary of Glennis Arlene Koenig
Glennis Arlene Martin Koenig, born October 1, 1943, in Woolwich Township, went to meet her Lord, surrounded by family, on Monday, December 9, 2024.
Will be remembered and always loved by her husband, Frank Schatz; daughter Janette Goertz (Manfred) and sons Daryl and Michael (Beverly); and grandchildren Brandon and Evan Goertz, MacKenzie and Mya Koenig, and Katie Koenig. Lovingly remembered by her siblings, Joyce (Cliff) Freeman, Jim (Helen) Martin, and Doreen (Ken) Martin, and sisters-in-law, Barb (and the late Lyle) Martin, Lynne (and the late Claude) Martin, Arlene Martin, and brother-in-law, Elmer (and the late Shirley) Koenig. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Also remembered by her husband Frank’s children, Anita (Gary) Crump and Bill (Emily) Schatz, and his grandchildren, Melissa Crump, Andrew Dowdy, and Emma Schatz.
Predeceased by her first husband Maurice, and by her parents, Orville and Almeda (Eby) Martin.
Glennis loved the Lord, writing and telling stories, especially jokes. She had three books published. She also loved to sing, singing in different choirs and sometimes as a soloist, or in a trio, quartet, or duet. She also had the gift of hospitality. Glennis was a much-loved Sunday School and Bible School teacher. She worked at Dominion Life, and for over 25 years as a PSW with the Canadian Red Cross.
Glennis had a big heart for the underprivileged, and for people in need. She was often found helping someone who was less fortunate.
Visitation will take place at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. We will celebrate Glennis’ life at Wilmot Centre Church, 2463 Bleams Rd., Petersburg, on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. The service will be livestreamed on the Wilmot Centre Church YouTube channel for those who are unable to attend. A reception will follow in the church hall. Private family interment to take place at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wellesley.
