Glenn Allan Glowa
Peacefully at the Deep River and District Hospital on Thursday, December 28, 2023 after a courageous battle against cancer, in his 56th year. Beloved father of Braden Glowa of Ottawa and Aidrick Glowa of Deep River. Loving son of Allan and Darlene Glowa of Montrose, British Columbia. Dear brother of Garry Glowa of Montrose, British Columbia. Also survived by his former wife Kristen Glowa of Deep River, in-laws Dave and Dale Torgerson, dear sister-in-law Dara and her husband Ryan Hernandez and daughters Lyra and Aria of California, and Shauna Torgerson of Toronto.
Glenn joined Atomic Energy of Canada (AECL) at the Whiteshell Laboratories (WL) site in Pinawa, Manitoba in 1990 after completing his BSc in Chemistry at UBC. While working for the Analytical Science Branch at WL, Glenn successfully attained his MSc in Chemistry and evolved into one of our leading scientific experts in the behaviour of Iodine under nuclear accident conditions. He relocated to Chalk River in 1997 and finished his career as Manager of the Nuclear Safety Experiments Branch.
Glenn loved the outdoors and especially getting his boys and others out to enjoy it with him. We will miss him on the river, lakes, golf course, hockey rink and ski trails.
Respecting Glenn’s wishes, cremation will take place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In memory of Glenn, donations to the Deep River and District Hospital would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Valley Funeral Home, Deep River.
