FORD, Gladys Anne ~ It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother Gladys Anne Ford (née Drinkwalter) surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 in her 98th year. Gladys was the loving wife of the late Lloyd Ford (Nov. 5, 2003) and daughter of Oscar and Violet Drinkwalter of Beaverton. She was born June 25, 1925 at Whitewood Grove (Hilliard Twp., Temiskaming Dst.) where she spent her early years on the family farm. In her teens, she worked at Hill, Clark and Francis in New Liskeard supporting the war effort. In June 1945, her best friend Lloyd Ford, returned from service and they were married on Sept. 27, 1945 (Lloyd’s birthday). Gladys and Lloyd moved to Lindsay in Feb. 1948 where they raised a family of five children; Lynda (Terry Healey), Diane (John Montague), Ron (Karen Holtom), Holly (Vince Bowen) and Donna (Dan Schley). Lovingly remembered by her eight grandchildren; Carol Heikurinen, Christopher, Jonathon, and Jennifer Ford, Kyle and Heather Ruta, Kathryn and Aaron Schley and fourteen great grandchildren; Lesley, Stephany, Kyle, Cole, Jeana, Jasmine, Jasper, Opal, Johanna, Maddox, Levi, Jude, Audrey and Rosaleen. Gladys is also remembered by sister Beatrice Milton of Cannington and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five sisters and two brothers. After raising her family, Gladys was employed by Canada Post, Lindsay until retirement in 1990. She was a 65 year life-member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Ladies Auxiliary, and a faithful long term volunteer with Ross Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. The family would like to thank the caring staff and her friends at William Place for bringing much joy to her later years. Also thank you to the Palliative Care Unit staff at the Ross Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion. In keeping with Gladys’s wishes, there will be a private family service at a later date. Cremation has taken place and she will rest at Riverside Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to her favourite charities, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes, Humane Society Kawartha Lakes, The Salvation Army, or The War Amps Canada.
