It is with indescribable sorrow and heartbreak we her daughters announce the passing of our beloved mom, Gina Foster on Saturday, December 28, 2024. The footprints and the handprints of Gina will leave a lasting imprint on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Gina’s legacy will be remembered and cherished by her daughters, Brittany and Jacquie Foster; mom, Marion Mascaro; sisters, Ruth Mascaro (Annie) and Kathy Mascaro (Dawn); cousins, Roberta and Reg.
Gina was predeceased by her loving husband, Fred Foster, father, Frank Mascaro; and brother Phil Mascaro.
Gina Foster loved gardening especially flowers, red roses being her favorited, also lilies for her daughters and pansies for her husband Fred; working in the dirt and planting flowers was her “Jungle Therapy”. She collected glassware, some crocheting, she was an avid reader, she enjoyed to cook and used recipes lovingly written down on recipe cards. She enjoyed to travel with her family, their trip across Canada and the trip to Europe are treasured memories.
Gina was a dedicated teacher for 39 years teaching in Buck Lake, Alder Flats, and Winfield to name a few. This was Gina’s passion! Her greatest gift to her students was her ability to give the tools to others, to set them on the right path, Gina was their champion. If Gina was teaching this year, she would be teaching great grandchildren of her past students. She belonged to the library board, ATA committee, Alder Flats Western Pioneer Seniors, and Santa’s Anonymous, she was committed to her community.
Gina was a true Momma Bear, she was a great listener, a wonderful guide through life, she gave her daughters a strong foundation to grow from so they could soar, she had a giving heart full of loving kindness for others.

The family would like to thank the teaching staff at Alder Flats, the staff on acute care at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre for their compassionate care of Gina during her stay. Cara from homecare and Corrine at Honeybee homecare.
In lieu of flowers a donation in Gina’s name can be made to the Alder Flats Library.
A memorial service for Gina will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the Buck Lake Community Hall.
