It is with great sadness that the family of Gilbert Gordon announce his passing on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. Gilbert passed peacefully at the age of 72, surrounded by family, at Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital in Ontario, Canada.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of almost 38 years, Carmen Gordon (nee Nicholas); son Neish, daughter Sam; sisters Keth (Mike), Emuita, Bev; brothers Sebert (Carol), Jeremiah (Icilda), George; mother-in-law Merelda Nelson; sisters-in-law Angella (Daniel), Marcia (Clifton), Jody-Ann (Johnny); brother-in-law Carlton and grandson Jaheem. He will also be dearly missed by a large circle of nieces, nephews, other family members, as well as friends in Jamaica and Newfoundland and Ontario in Canada.
Born in St. Ann, Jamaica on January 25, 1952, he migrated to Canada with his family in 2016. Gilbert was kind at heart and always willing to lend a hand. You could call upon him when in need, any time, any place. You would never hear the word “no”. He loved the Lord and was a deacon at church. He would be heard singing gospel songs all the time – at home, at church, at work, even in the great outdoors. A man of many talents – he was a chauffer, a taxi operator, a salesman, a chef, a food and meat services associate.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has already taken place. A memorial service will be held in Jamaica at a later date.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and care providers who cared for Gilbert during his illness. An extra thank you to the doctors and staff at North York General Hospital for the excellent and compassionate care. Thanks to everyone for everything you have done!
