It is with great sadness that the family of Gertie White wish to announce her peaceful passing, age 91 years, at Golden Heights Manor, Bonavista.
Predeceased by her husband Ted, sons Cyril and Randell, parents Edgar and Florence Rogers, sister Cecilia (Moses), brothers Gar (Lorraine), Cyril (Frederica), nieces Donna and Maud.
Leaving to mourn her daughter Diane (Clyde), granddaughter Nicole (Conrad), sister Bessie (Clayton), brother Eph (Ida), also all her nieces and nephews, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends.
Gertie was born in Sydney Cove, Bonavista Bay, NL where she grew up. In the 1950’s she and her family moved to Catalina where she raised her family. She worked as a cook at the Seaport Inn for many years and she cherished all her friends and memories she made along the way. Gertie loved life and enjoyed bingo, playing cards, berry picking and cooking and baking for her family and friends. She adored her granddaughter Nicole, who she loved dearly. Gertie showed her love and kindness to everyone she met.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Golden Heights Manor for taking such good care of her in her final months.
Gertie was a kind and caring soul with a heart of gold, she will never be forgotten by her family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Strathie’s Funeral Home, Catalina on February 1st from 10:00am- 1:00pm, 2:00pm- 5:00pm & 7:00pm- 9:00pm and on February 2nd from 10:00am- 12:00pm
Funeral Service will be held on February 2nd at 2:00pm from the Anglican Church in Catalina.
