Obituary
It is with profound sadness and tremendous sorrow that we announce the passing of our beautiful, kind and loving mother Germaine.
Germaine passed away peacefully with her beautiful angel Helen by her side at Eastholme Home for the Aged, on November 29th 2022, at the age of 88 years.
Loving wife of Russell (predeceased 2016), cherished mother of Monique (Darrell), Lorraine (Roger), Denise (Preston) and John (Manon). Nana will be missed and forever remembered by her grandchildren Brandon (Michelle), Krystin (Ken), Danielle and Patrick and great-grandchildren Jayde, Mya, Austin, Parker and Avery.
Germaine is survived by her siblings Maurice Lebel (Simone), Lionel Lebel (Annette), Omer Lebel (Jeanine), Carmelle Devost (Andre-deceased) and Ronald Lebel (Denise). Predeceased by her parents Gerard and Cecile (nee Gravelle) Lebel and her brothers Norman Lebel, Raymond Lebel (Jocelyn-deceased), Louis Lebel (Monique), Joseph and her sisters Anita Lebel and Marie Devost-Dolbeck (Octave -deceased) (Richard).
The love of her life was our dear father Russell with whom she has now been reunited.
Mom enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, cooking, and socializing with their friends and family. Ice fishing was her favourite pastime, and she quickly became the star by catching most of the fish. She once brought up a 13 lb. pike which she was very proud of.
Her love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was so endearing. “The kids” as she affectionately referred to all of us were paramount in her life. She was happiest in our presence. She was the absolute best Mom & Nana anyone could ever hope for.
She was loved by everyone she crossed paths with. She was kind, loving and so compassionate. She brightened up every room with her beautiful smile and affectionate character. Anyone who met her was greeted with a big hug and kiss. Most of our friends called her “Mom” and still do. They all loved her so much and rightly so.
People who had the great fortune to know her, sat at her table to enjoy her homemade soup, spaghetti, homemade beans, meat pie, deep fried pickerel balls and french fries and anything else she could cook to make everyone happy.
Mom had an angel on earth for the last 5 years. “Helen Gauthier Smith”. There was a loving bond between the two of them and we all think of her as family. It is such a blessing that she was with Mom at the time of her passing. Helen, we love you so much and are forever grateful.
Mom’s home for the past 5 1/2 years was at Eastholme for the Aged. We would like to thank each and every one of the staff that took care of her. Their love and compassion to us in Mom’s final days was a testament of their love for her. Far beyond anything we would have ever expected or hoped for. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Family will be receiving visitors at the McGuinty Funeral Home, North Bay on Saturday, May 6th, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or Eastholme for the Aged would be greatly appreciated.
