It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gerard Andrew Cybulskie on December 18, 2023 at the age of 64. He passed with dignity and peace surrounded by loved ones at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital.
Gerard is survived by his sisters Julie (Don) McMaster and Donna Marie Cybulskie, his aunt Sr. Helen Smaggus, and nieces Sarah Cybulski (Dan Osborne) and Mary McMaster. He also leaves behind his beloved dog “Maggie”. He was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Jean (Smaggus) Cybulskie and infant brothers Andy and Michael.
Gerard was a man of many talents. Being a quick study and having an innate ability to work with his hands, Gerard started as a carpenter but changed careers to become a licensed plumber, eventually owning and operating GAC Plumbing in Killaloe. When he wasn’t working, he could be caught strumming the guitar or playing a mean game of chess. He had an unbeaten record against his niece. However, Gerard was most known for his love of nature and his hunting and fishing abilities. He loved to tell friends and family stories of his angling adventures, which often had a comical twist.
Those who knew him best will remember Gerard for his big heart, sense of humour, generosity, and willingness to help anyone in need. Though his struggles were many throughout his life, Gerard also maintained a strong belief in God and had a special devotion to St. Theresa (The Little Flower).
Gerard’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses, doctors, and support staff at Renfrew Victoria Hospital for their exceptional care and kindness.
Gerard’s final care has been entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home, Killaloe where visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 2:00-4:00PM and 7:00-9:00PM. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Killaloe in the afternoon of Friday, December 22, 2023 at 2:00PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Gerard to the Mackay Manor in Renfrew or Sisters Adorers of the Precious Blood in Hamilton.
