On Monday February 27, 2023, Mr. Gerald Thomas Adrian Lafont of Calgary, Alberta, husband to the late Catharine {Fisher}Lafont passed away at the age of 63 years old.
Gerry’s love of the outdoors began with boy scouts, family camping trips and fishing with his family from a very young age. This passion grew as Gerry became a father and grandfather. Gerry enjoyed spending time with the family during great trips to Alberta lakes fishing. His love of motor bikes was another passion as he grew up. Gerry loved his Harley. Gerry’s heart could fill a room with his smile and deep laugh. Excitement grew for him when the holidays were drawing near. Gerry would dress up as Santa for many local non-for-profit groups to ensure children would always believe in the miracle of Santa and the season. Gerry had a strong commitment to volunteering as Santa. He will always be remembered as a loving Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather.
Gerald is survived by his parents, Gerald Sr. and Judy Lafont of Diamond Valley; his children, David Lafont {Karri}, Jon-Ross Lafont {Maureen}, Sarah Lafont all of Calgary; seven grandchildren, Logan, Daymein, Adrian, Shey-Lynn, Naomi, Alana, Catherine; great- grandson, Julian; three step-grandchildren, Cole, Karsen & Mason; Gerry’s siblings, Jackie Tuck{Greg} of Calgary, Doug Lafont {Brenda} of Okotoks, Kelly Tuck{Gord} of Diamond Valley, Steven Lafont of Diamond Valley, Tammy Blachard {Bruno}of Diamond Valley, Sean Lafont {Nicole} of Diamond Valley; as well as several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, uncle, and numerous cousins.
While devastated by this loss, the family are comforted by his life well lived. He will be forever missed and we cherish the gifts of his smile, spirit, curiosity of life and his love of family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing for Gerry from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Pierson’s Funeral Service (4121 – 17 Avenue SE, Calgary).
Private viewing for Gerry’s family only March 7, 2023 1:00 pm to 2:00 followed by the funeral ceremony at 2:00pm at Pierson’s Funeral Service.
