Gerald Mahlon Zehr of Tavistock passed away suddenly at home on June 30, 2024 in his 82nd year.
Born on October 11, 1942 in East Zorra-Tavistock, Gerald grew up on a farm on the 15th Line, and later married Judith Weicker on June 5th, 1965. They spent most of their married life farming on the Maplewood Side Road before moving into Tavistock 7 years ago.
Gerald was a fun-loving guy who loved his family dearly, and he enjoyed spending time with his wife, daughters and their families as well as his many siblings. When he wasn’t frequenting the arena or ballpark to watch his grandkids play, he could be found at home, tending to his garden, relaxing on their front porch, or enjoying daily drives with Judy throughout the countryside.
He is survived by his wife, Judith (Weicker) Zehr and his three daughters, Tricia Wilhelm, Tanya (Tim) Walker and Tasha (Matt) Neumeister. He was a cherished grandfather to Tristan, Chloe and Aidan Wilhelm; Judd, Jacob and Josie Walker; and Rhys, Ava and Gracie Neumeister, who were all his pride and joy.
Gerald is also survived by his siblings: Marilyn (Bill) Hyde, Dayle (Donna) Zehr, Paul (Linda) Zehr, Peter Zehr, Dianne (Ken) Kropf, Betty (Rob) Bennewies, Joyce (Ray) Barker and Bill (Sally) Zehr. Sister-in-laws Joanne (Bruce) Bean and Elaine Weicker. He was also loved by his many nieces and nephews and their families.
Gerald was predeceased by his parents, Mahlon and Lydia Zehr and parents-in-law, Bill and Olive Weicker, brother Lester Zehr and sister-in-law June Murray, nephews Chris Zehr and Jamie Horan, niece Deanna Campbell, brother-in-law Jim Weicker, and 4 siblings in infancy (Kathryn, Ernest, Evelyn and Grace).
Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
Relatives and friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home 77 Woodstock St. N. Tavistock on Wednesday from 4 – 8pm. Funeral Service will be conducted in Grace United Church, Tavistock on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at 2:00pm. Burial to follow in the Church Cemetery.
