It is with profound sadness that the family announces his peaceful passing at home on Saturday, April 29, 2023, just three days after his 79th birthday.
One of 6 siblings, Gerry was born to Rod and Ada Leroy (nee Ibbitson) both predeceased on April 26, 1944 in Powassan, ON.
In 1968, he married the love of his life, Heather McIntosh, and they shared 54 happy years raising their two boys together. He is now reunited with Heather, who passed away in March of 2022.
Survived by siblings Larry Leroy, Karen Aultman (Gerald), Eileen Moffatt (John – predeceased), and Morley Leroy. Predeceased by his sister Verrall Moffatt (James-predeceased).
Adored father of Jerry (Janet) and Jody (Mary).
Loved by his grandchildren Shaniah (Pat), Tyler (Mackenzie) and Ada. Cherished great-grandfather of Logan, Levi and Koda. Equally missed by his nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Gerry was employed with Inco for 33 years; starting in the Copper Refinery, moving to Crean Hill Mine, and finishing off at Levack Mine. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and socializing with family, friends and neighbors.
Gerry was a huge Blue Jays fan and loved feeding wild birds and other little critters.
There will be no visitation or service, as per his wishes. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life for family and friends will be announced at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home. For messages of condolence www.lougheedfuneralhomes.com.
