Gerald Lee Russett passed peacefully surrounded by his family September 5, 2024 in his 91st year. Son of the late Thomas and Olive (Davis) Russett. Beloved husband of Donna (Carlisle) for 65 years. Devoted father of Julie McKellar (Bill), Darrell Russett (Sandra), Gloria Taylor (Robert) and Holly Russett. Grandfather to Lorraine McKellar (Liza), Lucas Wilson (Laetitia), Olivia Anwender (Robert), Ashley Russett, Brock Wilson (Brittany), Jennifer Barrett (Brad), Caitlyn Salley, Richard McKellar (Rebecca), Rodney Russett (Helen) and Michael Belanger (Samantha). Great Grandfather to Cohen, Caroline, Nora, Colin, Ryley, Kalina, Theo, Avery, Rose, Davis, Jackson and Ruth. Brother of Sadie (Ray) Avery, Ted (Caroline) Russett, Barb (Gordon) Gosse and sister-in-law Ruth Russett. Brother-in-law of Marlene Stacey, Ralph (Shirley) Carlisle and Ross Carlisle. Pre-diseased by sister Gladys (Cliff) Beaudrie, brother Harry Russett, brothers-in-law Dan Penney, Bill Stacey and sister-in-law Elaine Carlisle. Gerald and Donna purchased their farm on Maple Road (6th Concession of Rawdon Township) in 1959, acquiring additional farms over the years creating Russett Farms as it’s known today. They farmed together until they passed the business to Darrell and Sandra and moved across the road to their new home in January 1998 to enjoy semi-retirement. They spent 20 plus years as Winter Texans including the recent 2024 season, enjoying the sunshine and making many friends. They enjoyed extensive travel abroad and travelling to jamborees with their trailer. Gerald was a dedicated member of his local community, serving as President of Plum Grove Cheese Cooperative (Wellman’s Corners) 1967 – 1971. Nine years as a Township Councillor and 15 years on both the Rawdon Township Volunteer Fire Department and the Township Fence Viewer Committee. Gerald was the Township representative on the Marmora Arena Board for 3 years and the Marmora and District Housing Board for 20 years. He also served 3 years on the Springbrook Ball Park Board and was a supporter of Farmtown Park (Hastings County Museum of Agricultural Heritage). Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the Weaver Family Funeral Home, 77 Second Street, Campbellford on Thursday September 12, 2024 from 5- 8 pm and again on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 12:30-2:00 pm. A funeral ceremony will follow on Friday at Weaver Family Funeral Home, Campbellford at 2:00 pm. Interment of his cremated remains will follow at Wellman’s Cemetery. The family kindly requests any donations be made through Weaver Funeral Home to Wellman’s Cemetary (cheques only) or Campbellford Memorial Hospital Foundation.
