It is with great sorrow that the family announces his peaceful passing, surrounded by his loving family at the Maison McCulloch Hospice, on January 22, 2024, at the age of 80 years.
Son of the late Gerrard Goudreau and late Lucienne (nee Bernard) Goudreau. Beloved husband of the late Catherine (nee Scarbro) Goudreau. Loving father of Kelly Goudreau, Gena Taylor, and Jo-Ellen (Terry) Robinson.
Gerry is predeceased by his siblings Yvonne (Gerry) Bois, Roger (Jean) Goudreau, John Goudreau, Claudette Desjardins, and Charles Goudreau. He is survived by sisters Jeannine (Marlin predeceased) Bladow and Geatanne (Boyd predeceased) Lynds and sisters-in-law May D’Amour-Goudreau and Cecile Goudreau.
Cherished grandfather (Pappa) of Brittni Goudreau-Doherty, Maguire Robinson, and Rylee Robinson.
He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He is now reunited with the love of his life, Cathy, to whom he was married to for 30 years.
Gerry worked for 38 years at Loeb and retired at 55 years old then pursued his love of golf full time. He worked for many years as a starter at the Idylwylde G&CC. He was an avid sportsman who loved playing hockey, as well as a fastball pitcher affectionately known to many as “Splint”. He enjoyed curling and looked forward to his Thursday afternoon bowling with his crew at Plaza Bowl. If he was not playing a sport, he was most definitely watching it on TV.
If you knew Gerry, you knew he always had a good joke lined up with a delivery that was unmatched. He was well known for his great sense of humor and quick wit. Often, he could be heard whistling or singing along to his favorite country classics. One of Gerry’s favorite pastimes was playing cards with his family. He was a quiet, kind-hearted, and loving man who always had a smile on his face. Next time you’re cracking a cold Coors Light or enjoying a shot of Crown Royal, raise a toast to Gerry.
We would like to thank the Maison McCulloch Hospice for their kindness and compassion in Gerry’s last days. A special thanks to Julie and Sophie for their exceptional care provided to Gerry and our family during our time at the hospice.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Cooperative Funeral Home, 222 Lasalle Blvd, Sudbury, on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
A Chapel service will be celebrated on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cooperative Funeral Home, Sudbury with a luncheon to follow at 11:30 a.m.
