STARR, Gerald “Jerry” Alexander (Retired Toolmaker from General Electric Peterborough after 34 years of service)
Peacefully at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Carole (nee Kennedy) for 60 years. Loving father of Brian Starr and his wife Karen, and Allan Starr and his wife Tracy. Cherished grandfather of Hailey Starr (Ryan Morley), Cody Starr, Samantha Starr and recent great grandfather of Adelaide Morley. Dear brother of Audrey Aldred and her husband Pat, Barb Tarkington, and Judy Vilneff. Predeceased by his siblings Donald Starr, Dorothy Long, Ken Starr, and Gord Starr. Predeceased by his parents Douglas and Pearl Starr. Over 60 years of marriage, Jerry and Carole were world travellers exploring Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean. Often travelling with their many good friends and fellow snowbirds to Florida. Jerry was an avid sportsman throughout his life, playing baseball, hockey, and soccer. In his later years he enjoyed curling in the winter and was an avid golfer in the summer. Jerry will be sadly missed by his good pal James, many nieces, nephews, and extended family. There will be a Celebration of Jerry’s Life held at the HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE, 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 1:00-3:00 PM. Words of remembrance will be at 2:00 PM. Interment Rosemount Memorial Gardens. In memory of Jerry and in lieu of flowers, donations to Princess Margaret Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
