Obituary
It is with very heavy hearts that the families of the late Gerald Eric Hatcher Sr announce his passing. Gerald passed away unexpectedly at the Rufus Guinchard health center in Port Saunders NL on Friday May 26, 2023.
Leaving to morn his wonderful and loving wife of 55 years Joan Hatcher (nee Bigalow) along with their daughter Colleen and Son-law Fabian Childs. Gerald was Predeceased by his son Gerald Eric Hatcher Jr. on April 26, 2020. (Daughter-in-law Pamela Genneaux). Also leaving to morn their four grandchildren whom he loved beyond measure. Anisha (nee Childs) Wheeler (Nick). Brianna Hatcher, Tyler Childs (Chrissy), and Devin Hatcher. Great-grandsons Thomas Childs and Cameron Wheeler.
Gerald was from a large family of 13 children growing up in Sally’s Cove Newfoundland. Leaving to morn his brothers Edmond (Freda), Bill (Bev), Clayton (Cynthia), George Junior (Ruth). Sister Ivy (Terry Welsh). His many Nieces and Nephews which he loved each one dearly. Special mention to his Niece Georgina Hatcher. Gerald was predeceased by his Parents George and Georgina (nee Gilly) Hatcher.
His following Siblings Madeline (Russell Laing), Joe (Mary), Lionel (Mary), Evelyn (AL), Elaine (Roland Goosney), Terry (Maxine), Wayne (Vera). Remembered and missed by a large circle of friends. Too many to mention each, but you all know who you are.
My Dad was a one-of-a-kind man with the biggest heart, best hugs, and a gentle giant with a kindness and support that put you at ease no matter how difficult you felt or the situation. He showed his caring and compassion freely to all that had the pleasure of knowing him. We will cherish you and our memories forever and beyond. Until we meet again rest peacefully Dad my hero, we love you so much.
A memorial Service will take place in the St. Albans Anglican Church in Sally’s Cove on Friday June 2nd, 2023, at 2:00pm, with Rev Green officiating, with burial to follow In Sally’s Cove cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel 63 North Main St., Deer Lake.
