Peacefully passed at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, December 24th, 2024 at the age of 94 years. Cherished husband of the late Sophie (2024) for 73 years. Loving father of Dora Hobbs (the late Gord) and Rose Blackwell. Proud grandfather of Serena Kelly (Ron), Sherri-Lynne Dolk, Shannon Calladine, Victoria Ffrench (Mike) and Abigail Muriella (Nick). Great grandfather of Ashley, Kristen, Colton, Alex, Devany, Daylan, Addyson, Beckham, Keith and Sophie, and great-great grandfather of Ethan, Hudson, Logan, Kaiya, Keifer, Tyson and Annabella. Predeceased by his great grandchildren Harley, Tina and Brady. Will be sadly missed by his many extended family members and dear friends.
Funeral Mass will take place at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 65 Amelia St., Barrie on Tuesday, December 31st, 2024 at 10 am. Interment to immediately follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, 208 Sunnidale Rd., Barrie. Guests are invited to remain for a reception gathering held inside the St. Mary’s Church. Should guests not wish to attend the cemetery interment, please make your way inside the Church Hall and the family will be joining once the interment is complete. In lieu of flowers donations in George’s memory may be made to the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre designated to the Hudson Regional Cancer Program or the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County and are greatly appreciated by the family.
