George Morita
1937 – 2024
At the age of 87, George passed away peacefully at home on June 12thafter a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer.
George is survived by his loving wife of over 53 years, Marilyn (nee Taylor).
He will be sadly missed by his sons, Rhett and Lee (Debra) and his granddaughters Cassidy and Sierra.
George will be greatly missed by his surviving siblings, nephews, nieces, extended family members, friends and the many people whose lives he touched throughout his robust career, his club memberships and senior programs.
George was born in Chemainus, BC. and moved to Toronto with his family in his early childhood years shortly after the Second World War ended and his family was released from an internment camp. He developed an enthusiasm for photography as a young teenager and that turned into a life long passion for film and photography as reflected in his successful career as an award-winning Director of Photography in the film and commercial industry.
Anyone who had the pleasure of getting to know George would have quickly discovered and appreciated his focus on meticulous details and his passion for engineering and creative thinking in everything he did.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all of the wonderful support workers (doctors, nurses and PSWs) from Acclaim Health especially to PSW Sherry who was always willing and able to accommodate George’s needs over the last 2.5 years.
The family will receive visitors at the McKersie & Early Funeral Home, 114 Main St E, Milton on Friday June 21st between 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM.
A private family funeral service will follow on Saturday, June 22nd.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with details to follow.
