In loving memory of a remarkable life, we announce the passing of George Langridge, who lived a full 95 years. George is survived by his loving wife of over 70 years Cissy (nee Hirons). Born in Surrey, England on February 25th, 1928 George’s upbringing spanned the 1930’s and then wartime London – he grew up with the blitz and celebrated V-E Day in London before joining the Royal Air Force near the conclusion of WW2. George and Cissy met, married and started a family. In 1957 they embarked together with 2 young children on a journey to Canada to find a new land of hope and glory.
George embraced life in Canada, settled in Milton, Ontario, and lived a life worth celebrating while the town expanded around him and his family. He is survived by his children Jane Marshall (Hugh, predeceased), Robert and Mark (Colleen), a sister Julie Knight (Tom) and a large and widespread extended family. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren Elizabeth Adamson (Keith), Andrew Marshall (Rebecca), James (Tori), Craig (Tina), Laura (Edward), Emily (Jesse), Graham (Kateri) and Eric and 8 great grandchildren (Isla, Georgia, Alasdair, Charlie, Sam, Caleb, John, Faye).
George was surrounded by his loving family in the last moments. reminiscing about music, cricket hat tricks, football, red currants, the dance halls of London in the early 1950’s and so many aspects of a life well lived.
The family would like express their thanks for the tremendous care that supported George, provided by all the personnel with Dr. Sadera, Seasons Milton, Ian Anderson House, Home & Community Care Support Services and Acclaim Health. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Ian Anderson House or to Meals on Wheels for which George and Cissy were long term volunteers. A family celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
