It is with great sadness, we the family announce the passing of George Edward Robertson on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, NS at the age of 83.
Born in Bathurst, NB, he was the son of late Harry and June (Patterson) Robertson.
Survived by his loving wife Faye (Hornibrook) Robertson and the proud father of his four children, Lisa (Calvin) Scott of Bathurst, Kevin (Monica) Robertson of Bathurst, Patti Robertson (Gary) of Halifax, NS, Paula (Marc) Breau of Halifax, NS.
Two sisters Dorothy (predeceased Manny) Doucet of Bathurst, and Mary (Scott) Thompson of Quispamsis, NB.
He adored his five grandchildren, Trevor (Kirsten) Scott, Troy Scott (Avery), Brett Robertson, Connor Allain, Hannah Breau.
He worked at many construction companies throughout NB and PEI as an Engineering Technologist. He completed his career at Consolidated-Bathurst in the engineering field in 1990 to then pursue his interests in the garden center/flower shop business until his retirement in 1998.
George was a very talented musician and as a young man formed an orchestra called “The Tartans” in Bathurst, NB. He played in The Bathurst Community Band and in later years formed a small group playing the keyboard called “The Carron Pointers”. He sang in The First United Church choir in Bathurst and served on The Ministry & Personnel Committee. He was the organist at The St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church in Bathurst for three years. In 2011 George and Faye moved to Halifax, NS where George continued his passion for music. He sang in The Bethany United Church choir, entertained in many senior homes throughout the Halifax Region and belonged to The Royal Canadian College of Organists (RCCO).
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
A graveside service will be held on November 2, 2024, at 3:00pm at The Highland View Cemetery in East Bathurst. Memorial donations may be made to The First United Church, Bathurst, NB or The Canadian Cancer Society.
