Obituary of Geoff Read
It is with great sadness, that the family of Geoffrey Thomas Read of Searsville, NB, husband of Faye (Hanson) Read announce his passing on Monday, October 21, 2024 at the Sus Health Centre. He was born on December 25, 1952, in Kingston, ON, a son of the late Ken & Gwen (McConnell) Read.
Geoff was a Country Boy at Heart & A Cowboy to his Soul! He loved the outdoors: Hunting, Fishing, 4 Wheeling & ATVs, Horses & Farming. His 2 passions were Fishing and his Woodworking Shop. He was very talented and even designed his own Woodworking shop and Garage and spent many Happy Hours in there and being creative! Geoff was Faye’s «Mr. Fix it»! He could always fix just about anything, and he could always come up with a solution. He loved to work on his property & was always improving it! He took a basic house and made it into their Dream Home!
Geoff was a PROUD VETERN of 20+ Years with the Canadian Military. He spent many hours, days, weeks & months being where he was needed. His Military Trade was a TRANSPORT OPERATOR and he loved being a TRUCKER and working with Heavy Equipment.
Geoff and Faye met while both serving in the Military and have been together for 42 years! They are SOUL MATES! They both are Dog Lovers and have had many throughout their life together! Currently, Geoff has a SERVICE DOG – RANGER – who loves his DAD and will miss him terribly! Ranger will be by Faye’s side to help her through this. Geoff always put his relationship first and supported whatever Faye wanted to do. They loved each other through Good and Bad times and always looked after each other. Recently Geoff helped bring Faye’s Dream Art Studio together – he designed it with her in mind. He also lovingly helped with her Garden Hobby and incorporated that into the Art Studio Design as well. Faye spends many happy creative moments there and Geoff will always be present with her in her heart while in her Dream Studio!
Geoff will be sadly missed by his wife Faye of almost 40 years; brothers: Melville Davis (Jane) of Peterborough, ON, Randall Davis (Lisa) of Peterborough, ON; sister: Norah Montgomery (Greg) of Peterborough, ON; brothers-in-law: Donnie Hanson (Gale) of Sus, NB, Todd Hanson of Belleisle Creek; sisters-in-law: Marilyn Brown (Wilson) Saint John, NB, Judy Chiasson (Donnie) of Saint John, NB and several nieces and nephews. Besides his adoptive parents and birth mother Grace Davis, Geoff was predeceased by his brother Jeff Davis, and his father and mother-in-law Lloyd & Juanita Hanson.
Faye would like to express her deep gratitude for the kindness and care that was shown to Geoff and herself by the staff of the Palliative Care Unit, Sus Health Centre. An extra special Thank You to nurses, Karissa and Courtney. Your attention to detail will not be forgotten,
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Center (506-839-2156) 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB where the visitation will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
