Passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on February 7, 2023, at the age of 82 years. Beloved husband of Gail Zwolinski with whom he celebrated 16 years of marriage. Loving and devoted father to Enzo Palumbo (Linda Wilton), late Mattia Fraser, and Anna Duronio and husband Dan. Cherished Nonno to Karla, Spencer, Mitchell, Carina, Danny Jr., Massimo and Olivia, and Bis-Nonno to Laith. Dear brother to late Benedetta and Pasquale Campisi, Rosanna Mule (Nino), late Stefano, Silvana Palumbo and late Caterina and Aldo Piazza. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Canada and Sicily. Predeceased by parents Vincenzo and Mattia Palumbo. Dear brother in-law to Ann Zwolinski, Donna Bower (Jeff), Barbara Mittra and predeceased by sisters in-law Sue Zwolinski and Mary-Ellen Zwolinski; and all their respective families. Gennaro was born in Montallegro, Sicily on August 31, 1940. He immigrated to Canada in 1967 to make a better life for his family. He was the proud owner of Gennaro’s Cafe for the past 42 years and will be sadly missed by his family, friends and patrons. Gennaro will be remembered as a hard working man who had a generous heart and was a phenomenal listener. He exhibited a genuine love for his family, especially for his beloved grandchildren. A sincere and heartfelt thank you to the staff at WRH, Met. Campus and the PSW’s for their exceptional and compassionate care provided to Gennaro and his family. Friends will be received at Windsor Chapel (South Chapel) 3048 Dougall Ave., South Windsor (519) 253-7234 for visitation on Monday, February 13, 2023 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm and 6:00 – 9:00pm and on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 from 1:00pm – 4:00pm and 6:00 – 9:00pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 10:00am until time of Funeral Service at 11:00am in the Chapel. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy and to honour Gennaro, memorial donations may be made to the Windsor Es County Cancer Centre Foundation (2220 Kildare Rd. Windsor, ON N8W 2X3).
