It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gemma Pamela Stanley- Thorne, who departed this life on Monday, 2nd September 2024, at her home,
surrounded by the family she cherished. Born on 3rd November 1933 in San Juan, Trinidad and Tobago, to the late Alfred and Dorothy (Dookie) Stanley, Gemma’s life was
a testament to love, strength, and grace. Gemma was the devoted mother of Michele Ann Thorne and Mari Angelique Mohammed (Ricardo), and is predeceased by her son, Michael Alan Thorne. She leaves behind a legacy through her adored grandchildren, Alisha Chung (Jason), Michael Allan, and Mikaela, and her precious great-grandchildren, Khai, Jaylan, and Lyric. She is survived by her loving brothers Sydney (Lynette), Leslie, and Victor (Margaret), and her dear sisters Jean and Joan (Jocelyn), along with many cherished nieces and nephews. Gemma is also predeceased by her siblings Edwin (Rita), Andrew (Nathalie), Jacqueline (Stuart), and Arthur.
Gemma’s life was marked by her unwavering strength, compassionate heart, generosity, and gentle spirit. She dedicated herself to her family and friends, always welcoming everyone into her home with open arms and a warm smile. She was known for her caring nature, love of conversation, and wonderful sense of humor. Her passion for cooking, baking, and entertaining ensured that everyone around her felt loved and well-fed. The family and friends of Gemma are invited to attend her funeral service, which will be held at Morris Funeral Chapel Ltd., 4 Division Street, Bowmanville, LIC 2Z1, on Tuesday, 10th September 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will commence from 11:00 a.m.
to 1:00 p.m. on the same day.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Lakeridge Health team for their exceptional care and support. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Gemma’s

Gemma Pamela Stanley-Thorne was a unique and wonderful woman who made an indelible impact on all who knew her. She holds a special place in our hearts, and as we
say goodbye, we find comfort in the memories we shared. Heaven has gained a new Angel.
