January 21, 1954-October 4, 2023
It is with great sadness, we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of Gaston Petit on October 4, 2023, at Royal Rose Place in Welland at the age of 69.
Beloved son of Fernand (Ernestine) Petit and predeceased by Gaston’s loving mother Emilienne Petit (November 9, 2019). Cherished sisters; Ginette Petit, Carolle Petit (Dr. Sandra Nuttall), Lise (Paul) Walker, Elaine (Rob) Coppens and dear brother of Normand (Linda) Petit.
He will be missed by all his nephews Aaron Shirley, Dan Shirley, Paul Larivière, Matthew (Alexandria) Coppens and his niece Michelle Coppens.
Fondly remembered by his grand nieces Samantha Shirley and Megan Shirley and his grand nephew Brayden Shirley.
Gaston was born in Welland on January 21, 1954. He was the second born of 6 siblings.
Gaston had the opportunity to travel across the country and loved BC. Gaston really enjoyed arts and crafts especially painting. He had numerous hobbies which included collecting watches and electronics and he would repair or create new from old, listening to music, reading, watching movies. He especially enjoyed riding around town on his scooter and meeting people. He was always pleasant, in good humour, a kind and gentle soul that liked helping people.
Special thanks to Royal Rose Place staff for providing expert, loving and compassionate care to Gaston during the past several years.
The family will receive family and friends at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME, CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE, 827 East Main Street, Welland on Saturday November 4, 2023, from 9:00 am until service time in the chapel at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. If desired, donations to the Welland County General Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
