It is with great sadness that we announce Garry’s passing on October 14, 2024 at the age of 86 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer for the past year and a half.
Garry was born in Kearney, Ontario on August 4, 1938 and is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Carole. Proud father of Kim Munro, Curtis (Tina) and Darin. Grandfather of Carli, Drew and Abby. He is survived by sister-in-law Joan McCool (Garry) of Garson and brother-in-law Edgar Soulliere of Sudbury and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings and their spouses; Jean (Bill), Jackie (Doug), Gloria (John), Brenda, and Gordon (Sharon).
Garry worked for the Canadian National Railway for 38 years and retired in 1992. He was a pilot with the Windsor Flying Club and logged 756 hours of flying. He was an avid golfer and 10-pin bowler. He also coached Riverside Minor Baseball and Hockey for several years.
We would like to thank the team of doctors who helped in his care: Dr. Adams, Dr. Jhawar and Dr. Nasser and the nurses and Palliative Care staff at the HDGH Emara Building.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Transition to Betterness (T2B).
Visitation will take place at Families First Funeral Home (3260 Dougall Ave 519-969-5841) on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 3 – 5 and 7 – 9 p.m. Cremation to follow.
