It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Frederick William “Fred” Clarke at his residence on Thursday, December 12, 2024.
Born August 6, 1958, in Sydney, he was the son of Frederick Clarke and the late Pearl Gertrude (Hareguy) Clarke.
Fred was hard working and no matter what the job, he put everything into it. He cared about people, but it was his granddaughter, Victoria who captured his heart and his parents he cared most about. He became their caregiver. Fred was there with his mother, Pearl, who passed away almost three years ago after a valiant fight against cancer. And when his father, Fred Sr. was left to live a life without his beloved Pearl of 64 years, it was his son, Fred who stayed by his side, taking care of his every need.
He was not a man of many words. Fred was quiet and reserved. He expressed himself through his actions, taking care of his father, making sure his sisters felt welcomed when they came home to visit and decorating the family home for Christmas exactly the way his parents would have wanted.
Fred was a man of many talents, but his greatest gift, his legacy, is the love and care he gave his parents when they needed him the most.
Fred is survived by his father, Fred Clarke; sisters, Colleen (Aubrey) Graham, Halifax and Darlene Baxter, Halifax; son, Matthew; and grandchildren, Victoria Pynn and Chase and Jackson Hayden. He is also survived by his nieces, Lindsay (Brett Kisiloski), Courtney (Darren Kachkowski), Julia and Carrie Baxter; and nephews, Colin Edwards and Brandon and Kyle Graham who he enjoyed spending time with, especially during Christmas.
He was predeceased by his mother, Pearl Clarke; sister, Evelyn Arbuckle; and nephew, Michael Edwards.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sydney Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday, January 3rd, 2025 at 2:00 pm. with Rev. Jackie Warren officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed live on the Sydney Memorial Chapel Facebook page.
