It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you Fraser Alan Logan took his last breath on March 10. He died at home surrounded by love. He was predeceased by his daughter Jennifer in 2015, and by his sisters Corrine Hollingshead and Leslie Kasmar.
Fraser was born to Fraser and Alice Logan in Saskatoon on May 4, 1943. (May the fourth be with you, Fritz!) He attended Caswell Hill School and graduated from Bedford Road Collegiate in 1961, then attended the U of S for one year. During this time, he took flying lessons, soloing after just 15 hours of instruction. However, his real interest lay in cars, particularly VWs. At the peak, he owned seven Beetles, but the ultimate was a used Karmann Ghia. He lovingly restored it and drove it to Vancouver Island on his honeymoon.
His working life was spent travelling the province selling auto-body shop supplies. He worked for various companies including Acklands and the Fastener Center.
He met the love of his life, Berdeena, at a friend’s wedding in 1970 and they married in 1975. Fraser was a cautious man not prone to rushing into things. So, seven years later, they had a daughter, Jennifer Joy, and a second daughter, Amy Blythe, in 1985. He was a marvelous father who loved to spend summers with his family at Candle Lake.
Fraser instinctively knew how things worked and the most effective way to repair something. After many improvements and renovations, the “starter home” became the “forever home.” The sound of power tools operating in the neighbourhood was a magnet for him. He would wander over and offer advice and assistance, which earned him the secret neighbourhood nickname “The Foreman.”
He loved gardening and turned the front yard into a xeriscape, complete with an intricate brick walkway. He was quite artistic, good at painting and drawing.
He was a man with a dry sense of humour. He would listen quietly and then chime in with a perfectly timed zinger. He was a man of few words, but he made them count.
Fraser is survived by his wife Berdeena, daughter Amy, son-in-law Masayuki, grandson Quincy, and brother Blake.
Special thanks go to the wonderful home-care aides and palliative nurses who cared for Fraser with great compassion.
