October 4th, 1943 – November 25th, 2023
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, Franklin Sandy Jones. Dad slipped peacefully away in the early morning hours on November 25th at Carmelite House in Grand Falls Windsor.
Leaving to grieve are his 2 sons: Stephen (Kelli) and Michael (Krista), and 4 grandsons: Samuel, Benjamin, Nathan and Nicholas; cousin Marilyn Cramm and family, sister-in-law Evelyn Jones and family, plus the numerous friends he has made throughout his 80 years of life. Dad was predeceased by his beloved wife Bessie, his siblings Edward and Betty-Lou, and parents Samuel and Ivy.
Dad had a deep love of the Newfoundland outdoors, whether berry-picking or moose hunting he was always happiest in the woods. In his later years, he also developed an affection for Newfoundland history, especially anything that highlighted his home of Tizzard’s Harbour, Notre Dame Bay.
We would like to acknowledge the special friendships Dad has made during his time at Kingsway Living retirement home. Also, thank you to the hospital nursing staff who looked after him during his years in dialysis, and thank you to those that made his last few days as comfortable as possible.
In respect with Dad’s wishes there will not be an official ceremony at this time. Future arrangements will be made to celebrate Dad’s life and to spread his and Mom’s ashes. Enjoy the outdoors in his memory!
