Francis Gale Obituary
The family announce the passing of Francis Joseph Gale on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024 at the age of 94 years.
Frank was born in South Branch, Codroy Valley on December 31, 1929, and moved to Stephenville in 1966. He worked as a heavy duty mechanic, carpenter, and millwright. He was a great family man. He had a wonderful sense of humour and was admired for being a very positive person. Whether he was heading to the cabin, painting, playing the guitar, doing a crossword, telling a story, or googling something on his laptop, he liked being busy at something. Frank was a lover of the outdoors and walked regularly until the age of 92.
Loved and missed by: Wife, Mary (Ella Brake); children: Rosena (Mike Dunphy), Cheryl (Cyril Rose), Valerie (Rick Gaudon), Eric (Angie O’Brien), and Stephanie.
8 grandchildren: Jessica, Cory (Brittney), Andrea, Kevin (Tracy), Eric, Gail (Jeff), Brian (Laura), and Randi; 9 great-grandchildren: Ashton, Hayley, Cora, Autumn, Elon, Shaylin, Harper, Bryce, Brody
Brothers: Wallace (Shirley), Pius (Cecelia), Robert (Bryde)
Brothers-in-law: Ben Brake (Helen), Vince Brake (Bev), Sisters-in Law: Zita Muise (Norman), Stella Pitcher (Randy), Marion Brake, Deanna Brake (Derrin), Leona Gale, and Kaye Gale; stepmother-in-law: Sissy Brake; and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Frank was pre-deceased by parents Jack and Jesse Gale; siblings: Ned, Johnny, Paul, Bern, Mike, Gordon, Gerald, Andy and Loretta.
In keeping with Frank’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 12th from 7-9 PM at Russell’s Funeral Home, Stephenville. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 13th at 2:00 PM from St. Stephen’s Parish, West Street. Interment to follow at Hillside Interfaith Cemetery.
Flowers are graciously accepted or donations in Frank’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
