Frank passed away peacefully in the early hours of March 15th, 2024 in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan just a few days shy of his 93rd birthday.
He was born March 18, 1931 in Dodsland, Saskatchewan and was the fourth of five children born to Howard and Jennie-May (Kincaid) Kelly.
Frank was predeceased by his siblings Gordon (Nellie), Lorne, Margaret (Al) Chute and Jim (Karen). He is survived by his loving wife Frances (smith), his children Corinne (Kerry Mahlman) and Ted (Krista), his grandsons Spencer and Keegan, sister in law Joyce and many nieces and nephews.
His early years were spent in the Kelfield, Saskatchewan area where he assisted in working the family farm. He went on to attend Briercrest Bible College where he met his future wife Fran. During his time at college he was intensely involved in the music program, playing saxophone and singing in many college choirs. It was here that his desire and passion to serve The Lord with his voice was awakened.
After graduating in 1957 he moved to Saskatoon. He and Fran were married and raised their family there. They attended Ebenezer Baptist Church and later Nutana Mennonite Church. Both he and Fran spent many years contributing to the music programs in both congregations through choir and solo voice work. Frank was also the tenor in a long standing quartet at Nutana. During his time in Saskatoon he sold life insurance and ran a gas station and mechanic shop for Gulf Canada.
The family moved to Regina in 1976 and again Frank was able to contribute and share his passion for music at Parliament Community Church, Hillsdale Alliance and First Baptist Church. He and Fran spent a few years in Alsask where he held the position of Business Development Officer for the area before returning to Regina for retirement.
In 2020 they decided to move closer to family in Assiniboia.
Beyond music, Frank’s other passions included hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking and especially hockey. He never missed an opportunity to see his son play the sport. He became an accomplished trap and skeet shooter. Winning many tournaments and trophies. The family spent most summers camping at Doré and Greig lakes where he got to share his love and skills for fishing. He was immensely proud of his grandsons and their decisions to follow the Lord and attend college at Millar College of the Bible.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Ross Payant Centennial Home for their extraordinary care given to Frank over the past few years.
A service will be held at 1:30pm Friday April 19th at First Baptist Church in Regina.
