With great sadness we announce the passing of Francesco Iula on August 17th, 2023, at the age of 80. He passed away peacefully at Humber River Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Francesco, affectionately known as Franco, was born to Domenico and Giuseppina, on June 11th, 1943, in Ferrandina, Province of Matera, Italy. He was a talented barber who began his apprenticeship in Italy and pursued it as a career here in Canada. He later became a hard-working custodian at two TCDSB high schools and took pride in his labor.
Francesco will be missed most of all by his loving wife of 53 years, Isabella, who looked after him with much faithfulness and devotion. Francesco’s memory will forever be cherished by his children Domenic (Patricia) and Mary Ann (Essy). His legacy will live on in his grandchildren Gabriel, Emily, Aiden and Branden.
Francesco will eternally be loved by his brothers Michael (Teresa), and Mario (Anne) and will be missed by his in-laws Domenic (Dorothy) and Teresa (Luciano). Francesco’s spirit will forever be engraved in the hearts of his many nieces, nephews and their families.
Visitation will be held at Bernardo Funeral Home (2960 Dufferin St., south of Lawrence Ave. W.) on Monday August 21, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard de Clairvaux Catholic Church (1789 Lawrence Ave. W. east of Jane St.) on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.
Francesco will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Mausoleum (4570 Yonge Street)
