Frances’ Obituary
It is with great sadness that we share the loss of Frances Kathleen Lainson (nee Drake), who passed away in Palliative Care at the Brantford General Hospital on October 8, 2024. She was 92 years of age. Frances will be remembered as a loving Wife, Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, friend and proud member of the Paris community.
She leaves behind her devoted husband Bob of 69 years and her 5 children: Kathy Taylor (Tom 2010), Susan MacCallum (Rob) Nancy Hutchins (Todd) Patty Hayes (Geoff) and Bob Lainson (Fran). She was the proud Grandma of Andrea, Laura (Ed), Erin (Ben), Kerri, Luke (Amy), Tara (Ronnie), Tessa (Sarah), Mitchell (Jordyn), Madison, Paige (Andrew) Brooke and Ian. She was blessed with 16 great grandchildren and one more on the way! She is survived by her brother John and is reunited with her brother Bill (2020).
Frances grew up in the ‘Near North’, living with her family in North Bay, Capreol, and then Barrie, as her father worked as a dispatcher for the CNR where she met Bob during her last year of high school. After high school she attended St Joseph’s hospital School of Nursing in Toronto. Following her marriage to Bob on Aug 13, 1955, they moved to Paris, where she began and ended her nursing career at the Willett Hospital.
Frances was a devoted member of St. James Anglican Church, where she belonged to many clubs and service groups. She volunteered heavily in the community – meals on wheels, the Willett Hospital and Auxiliary. She and Bob had the joy of living in their home for over 60 years but for the past 16 months she had been residing at Telfer Place in assisted living. We would like to thank the staff for their terrific care, and the recreation team for the entertainment and fun they provided. We would also like to thank the staff at Park Lane for their kindness to Mom as she visited Bob for the past 3 years.
Friends will be welcomed at the Dwayne D. Budgell Funeral Home, 1105 Rest Acres Road, Paris, on Friday October 18, 2024 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at St. James Anglican Church, 8 Burwell St., Paris, Ontario on Saturday October 19, 2024 at 11 am. Father Jason Postma will officiate. Frances’ service will be live streamed starting at 10:50 am. Cremation has already taken place. In Frances’ memory donations to the Willett Hospital or St. James Anglican Church would be appreciated by the family.
