Bigman, Frances – It is with great sadness that we share the loss of Frances Bigman on March 29th, 2024 at Baycrest, with family and friends by her side. Beloved daughter of Estelle and the late Irwin Bigman. Frances had the most special relationship with her daughter, Shawna Maron and her son-in-law Jonathan Kamien, who she would (and did) do anything for, and was the proudest and cherished «Bubbie» of Ivy and Aiden Kamien. Dear older sister and sister-in-law to Brian and Cheryl Bigman, and Ted Bigman and Rachel Aranoff. Lifelong best friend of Judy Engel.
Frances was born in 1956 in Montreal and grew up in Chomedey. In 1997, Frances made the move west to Toronto and established a successful career as a fundraiser extraordinaire. She spent the last 18 years at TanenbaumCHAT as the Director of Advancement. Under her direction, philanthropy at TanenbaumCHAT grew significantly, and the annual fund campaign she established has provided thousands of students the opportunity to benefit from a Jewish education. Frances also executed a host of successful capital campaigns, developed visionary programs, and prioritized the development of a culture of philanthropy within the school community. Colleagues and friends remember Frances for her kindness, her humour and, above all, her love of TanenbaumCHAT.
Special thanks to Gillian Sinclair, Dr. Daniel Abramowitz and Salvacion Aleta for their dedicated support this past year, as well as the extraordinary doctors and nurses at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, North York General Hospital and Baycrest.
Frances will always be remembered for her big and warm personality, love of travel, her masterful and beautiful needlepoint creations, dedication to the community and most of all her tremendous love for her daughter and granddaughters.
