June 1 2024 résidant dans la province Manitoba pour le détail des funérailles.

On the morning of June 1st, 2024, Betty Anderson passed away. Her loving husband, Brian, preceded her in June 2015.
Left to mourn and celebrate her life are sons David (Christine) & Rick (Nan). Granddaughters Megan (Geoff) & Lauren (Mike), Katie (Will) & Erin. Great Grandchildren Paolo, Amedu, Liam, Ruben, Reagan & Ellie. She will also be missed by nieces Sharon (Jim) & Phyllis and nephews Doug (Deb), Dean (Paula) & Brian.
Florence Elizabeth Anderson was born in Winnipeg in 1929 to Brad and Amelia McArthur. She was always known as Betty & was the youngest of six. Betty attended Lord Roberts and Kelvin and was a proud member of her best friend crew, the PUGS. Though the family had little money, they ate well from incredible gardens that her dad grew and her mother, born to a life of work, cooked cleaned and cared for everyone.
Betty married Brian Anderson in 1949 and together they took on life together. Their two boys David and Ricky soon followed. Brian’s career with Manitoba Hydro took off and soon they all moved from Winnipeg to Portage, to Brandon, to Virden and back. Betty had to cope with trailer living and water that froze in winter; caring for her boys while Brian was climbing power poles. They both persisted and by the time they returned to Winnipeg, Brian was rising in the management ranks. Eventually they achieved the financial stability they both worked so hard for, providing a new life of opportunity for themselves and their boys.
Betty was very close to her mother and maintained their loving relationship throughout her life. Rick and Dave have fond memories of the delicious meals and time spent with family and relatives. Friday night sleepovers were a regular occurrence for Dave and Rick.
Betty was an accomplished league bowler, card player (bridge was her specialty) and gardener. As a family they attended the Central Y.M.C.A. and Betty loved to accompany Brian on his SCUBA adventures. She was a hardy camper and – as legend has it – quite the go-cart racer! Betty loved to dance, and Brian had a beautiful voice. They really knew how to savour their moments together and to share a good time with friends!
With the kids grown, Betty went to work at the Credit Bureau of Manitoba and loved her work as Office Manager. She excelled at the job and formed many friendships with her co-workers. Betty was very proud of entering the work force and Brian became a better cook.
Betty and Brian loved to travel. In their early dating years, they enjoyed many trips to Grand Beach on the train for weekends with friends. They shared many summers with cherished brothers, sisters, and extended family. Later, they enjoyed a long and fun-filled retirement and were a vibrant host couple for Hydro-X bus excursions all across Canada and the US. They loved to socialize and truly enjoyed their time with friends and neighbours while living in Lord Roberts, Riverview, Fort Garry and later at Silverview Estates, Dakota House and Riverwood.
Betty loved family gatherings and celebrating holidays and birthdays together. She was known for her delicious lemon meringue pie. She was generous and kind, sensitive and supportive. She had a beautiful personality and warm charm that has been terribly missed for quite some time.
In the last 10 years she remained positive and loving even as her intellectual challenges worsened. A trooper to the end, Betty was loved and cared for by the brilliant staff at Pembina Place. Heart-felt thanks are extended to the Recreation, Spiritual Services teams as well as all the volunteers and incredible Staff for the joy and community they provided Betty. A special thank you to Cheryl for her kind and patient companionship.
Thanks to David and Christine who travelled annually from Tasmania to visit and stay connected to the Winnipeg crew. Special thanks to Rick and Nan, for their dedication and ongoing support. To all who befriended and brought happiness to Betty, our family will be always grateful.
Rest In Peace, Betty
We love you, Mom.
