Fernande’s Obituary
Fernande Giroux, Long-time resident of McLennan (AB) passed away on October 13, 2024 at 77 years of age.
Born on June 14, 1947 to parents Amedee & Irene Fortier in Saint-Cyprien (QC), Fern was the fourth oldest of 11 children. Their family moved to Alberta in 1950.
Fern loved visiting with family. She had many talents, She enjoyed crocheting blankets, reading, and was renowned for her homemade cinnamon buns, donuts and pies.
She raised 4 children (which included a set of twins), she often did this alone while her husband was away working.
Fern worked for TD Bank in McLennan, she later joined the housekeeping staff at Sacred Heart Community Health Centre where she worked for many years.
Fern is predeceased by her parents Amedee and Irene (Pruneau) Fortier.
Lovingly Survived by husband Maurice Giroux; Children Monique (Shane) Peters, Nicole Giroux, Rachelle (Chris) Bryant, Leo (Carolyn) Giroux; Grandchildren Christopher & Matthew Bryant, Grace & Seamus Rorke, Brooke, Callie & Morgan Giroux
A Memorial Mass for Fern will be held on November 2, 2024 from St. John the Baptiste Cathedral in McLennan (AB) at 10:30 a.m.
A reception will take place in the lower hall following the interment in the McLennan Roman Catholic Cemetery.
If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Smoky River Palliative Care Society as expressions of sympathy.
