Ewart was born in Grand Bank September 24th, 1934. He moved to Gander in his teens and met his future wife Phyllis from Port Rexton and raised four children. Over the years he had many jobs, starting at Goodyear’s, imperial oil, taxi driver and finally settled on a career in Air Traffic Control.
He and Phyllis had many great friends and enjoyed each others company especially with curling bonspiels, and card games.
His many interests in life were playing soccer which was a must if you came from Grand Bank.
He was involved in minor hockey, helping in starting the golf course in Gander, getting the curling club started, and co-editor of a local magazine called the Central Islander.
His many hobbies also included salmon fishing, golfing, united church choir, social club, Masons where he held many positions.
He loved to travel and got to do this in later years with Marian, especially cruising.
Through the years he had just so many interests and such great friends it’s impossible to remember everything he accomplished. To sum it all up he had a great life and enjoyed it to the fullest.
Even when the heart falls silent, we do not cease to be because in the end we all become memories.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Fraser Road United Church would be greatly appreciated.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held this summer when all of his family and friends have an opportunity to attend.
