RICHIBUCTO, NB – Evelyn McCaffrey 88, of Richibucto
passed away peacefully at the Villa Maria in Saint-Louis-de-Kent on
Sunday, August 20, 2023. Born in Richibucto, she was the
daughter of the late Amedee Blanchard and late Lena (Melanson)
Blanchard. Evelyn was very social and loved to have fun; a
real teaser, she loved country music, playing cards and receiving
flowers made her very happy.
She will be sadly missed by her four daughters, Odette Hickey
(Dennis) of Smithtown, Joan Vautour (Louis) of Riverview, Cathy Daigle
(Maurice) of Saint John, Lena-Jeannine McCaffrey of Rothesay; one son,
Michael Daigle (Julie) of Saint John; eighteen grandchildren and
fifteen great grandchildren.
She is also survived by daughter-in-law, Maria Daigle of
Lakeville; one son-in-law, Blair Crowell of Saint John, one
brother-in-law, Ernest Daigle of Moncton and by many nieces and
nephews.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by the father of her
children, her first husband, Alphonse Daigle, second husband Philip
McCaffrey; one daughter, Susan Crowell; one son, Ivan Daigle; one
grandson, Ronald Daigle; five sisters, Anna, Angele, Sr. Emilia,
Stella, Theresa and two brothers, Joseph Blanchard and Daniel
Blanchard.
Visitation will be held at Thompson’s Funeral Home
in Richibucto on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, Friday beginning
at noon until departure for the funeral. A Funeral Mass will
be celebrated on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the St. Louis
des Gonzague Roman Catholic Church in
Richibucto.
