We are
saddened to announce the death of Evangeline Genevieve Maas (MacLean)
formerly of Church Street, Antigonish, Nova Scotia, at the R.K.
MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish, on July 9, 2023. Vangie
was 78.
Vangie was
the wife of Frank Maas formerly of Church St., Antigonish and the
daughter of Henry and Janet (MacGillivray) MacLean of Ohio,
Antigonish, NS. Vangie worked as a crosswalk guard for the
Town of Antigonish for over 20 years.
Vangie had a
deep love for animals, especially Siberian Huskies, which she raised
for many years. Vangie was always on the go, but she always had time
for a good cup of tea and conversation. Vangie was very giving and
loved helping others in any way she could. She will be sadly
missed.
Vangie is
survived by her husband Frank, by her son and daughter in-law Terrance
and Donna Maas of Ulysses Kansas, sisters Anita, Antigonish; Sanderine
MacPherson, Ottawa; Nancy, Antigonish; and brother Wm. Charles
«Buddy» of the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home;
grandchildren, Andrew Joseph and Parker Faith Maas, Ulysses,
Kansas, and Jenna MacInnis (Barry),
Antigonish.
She was
predeceased by her parents, her sister Mary Catherine, brother John
Richard and sister Veronica in infancy.
The family
wishes to thank Dr. John Hickey and Dr. Elizabeth Cooper and the R.K.
MacDonald Nursing Home Staff for their exceptional care over the
years.
There will be
no visitation by request and a private family service will be held at
a later date.
In lieu of
flowers or donations, the family requests you do one random act of
kindness for someone in her remembrance.
