It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Eva Holtbu, on August 1, 2024, at the age of 70. She was surrounded by family and loved ones during her final moments. Eva’s unexpected departure has left a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her.
Eva was born on September 25, 1953, in Oslo, Norway. Both she and her twin sister graduated from high school and pursued careers as hairdressers. In 1976, Eva married and started her own family. Two years later, in 1978, she and her young family immigrated to Canada to live in Calgary. She eventually transitioned to a career in finance, retiring in 2018.
Eva will be remembered for her fierce independence, her unwavering love and dedication to her family, her deep admiration for Norway and all things Norwegian. Her enjoyment of being in the sun, working in her yard and tending to her flowers was her greatest pastime.
In her later years, Eva cherished the time spent with her youngest grandchildren, Noah and Sofía. She took immense pride in watching Noah play sports and sharing a special bond with her «gentle giant.» She enjoyed spending time with Sofía, whose energy and wit kept Eva laughing. Whether it was watching her play sports, engaging in creative and crafty activities, or going on fun shopping adventures. Eva’s legacy of love, strength, and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
Eva is survived by her devoted children, Kenneth (Charlene), Vicky (Noé), Linda (Jaz); her adored grandchildren, Noah, Sofía, Will, Hayden (Krista), and Alicia; & 2 great-grandchildren; mother, Jorund; sister, Sissel; nephews, Jan-Erik (daughter Emilie), and Christoffer (wife Fhilvic and children Leo and Christian). She will also be dearly missed by her best friend, travel buddy and confidant, Yvonne. She was predeceased by her father, Christian; and very recently her twin sister, Tove.
In honour of our mothers wishes there will be no funeral service. We invite you to please celebrate Eva’s memory in your own way.
