It is with deep
sadness that we announce the passing of Eva «Hazel» Fraser
of Geary, New Brunswick, on February 11th, 2023, at Neill Hall
(Shannex) in Fredericton. Born in Hexham, NB, on February 24th, 1927,
she was the daughter of the late Luther and Edith Mae (Miller)
MacLean.
Hazel was a life
member of the Ladies Auxiliary Branch # 93 in Oromocto, a square
dancer with the Oromocto Pioneers Club, and a member of the Triple
«C» Cloggers. After her children were grown, she worked for
Optyl in Oromocto and Woolco until her retirement. Hazel also spent
many hours volunteering with various organizations over the years. She
had a great sense of humor and was generous with her time –
always ready to lend a helping hand. She will be fondly remembered by
her family and friends.
Hazel is
survived by three sons, Darryl (Paulette) of Rusagonis, Terry of
Geary, and Edward (Kim) of Fredericton; three daughters, Cheryl (Robin
Roddey) of Toronto, Wendy (Stewart Broadley) of Fredericton, and Wanda
(Bert) Groetelaars of Horsefly, BC; six grandchildren, Andrea (Dan)
Konowalec, Sean (Stacey) Fraser, Jarrett (Emma Mathieson) Fraser,
Lindsey (Rob) Gillies, Brittney Groetelaars (Garett Pearce), and Kiana
(Matt) England; two step-grandchildren, Michael and Penny Fraelic; and
seven great-grandchildren, Nolan and Rylan Konowalec, Jaxon Fraser,
Liam Gillies, Layne Fraser, and Graham and Matthew Charles England.
She is also survived by two sisters, Shirley Adams of Miramichi Bay
and Betty Williston of Miramichi, NB, as well as many nieces and
nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Fraser, sisters
Jean Jamieson and Vera Griffin, and brothers Chester and Harold
MacLean.
Resting at
Bishop’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, 540 Woodstock
Road, Fredericton, where visitation will take place on Saturday,
February 18th from 12pm to 2pm, with a funeral service immediately
following. Interment will take place in Bay du Vin in the
spring.

wish, memorial contributions in Hazel’s memory can be made
to the Children’s Wish Foundation or a charity of the
donor’s choice.
