Eunice Amelia Wood age 91, of Valley View Villa formerly of New Glasgow passed away Jan. 3, 2023 in the Valley View Villa, Riverton. Born at Eden Lake, NS she was a daughter of the late George and Jean (MacNaughton) Wood.
Eunice grew up at Eden Lake, she then went on to the Maritime Business College Graduating in 1949. She started work at Commercial Equipment in New Glasgow but in 1953 decided to enter the school of Medical Lab Technology at St. Martha’s Hospital in Antigonish graduating from there in 1955 and went to work at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow. After working in New Glasgow, she carried on to work in Montreal and was called home to be an instructor at the Institute of Technology in Halifax from where she retired. Eunice loved to travel, was an avid reader making many trips to the library and enjoyed researching genealogy.
She is survived by her niece Brenda Wood (Fred Rhyno); nephews Jack (Linda) Wood and Jim (Debbie) Wood; several great-nieces and great-nephews and devoted friends Shaun McLean and Eric Arbuckle.
She was predeceased by sister Myrtle MacDonald and brother John Wood.
A private family funeral service will be held in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at High Crest Place in New Glasgow and the Valley View Villa in Riverton for the excellent care Eunice received.
